Nuclear targeting is one way whereby DSS exerts its inflammatory action

Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis is a very well know animal model for inflammatory bowel diseases. Despite this, the precise molecular action off DSS and its effect on the epithelial tissue permeability are still not fully understood. In a recent study published in the journal Tissue barriers, scientists are showing that nuclear targeting is one way whereby DSS exerts its inflammatory action. The authors used FITC-dextran sulfate with several different molecular weights from TdB Labs in the study.
