Polysaccharides

Our standard product portfolio consists of both fluorescent and non-fluorescent polysaccharide derivatives. Our focus is dextran derivatives, but we also offer derivatives of other polysaccharides such as polysucrose, inulin, hyaluronic acid, trehalose and hydroxyethyl starch.

Our products are widely employed within the life science sector. Our fluorescent derivatives are mainly used for studies of permeability and microcirculation in cells and tissues, for studies of drug delivery, or as molecular size markers. Our fluorescent products include derivatives labelled with FITC,
TRITC, ATTO™-dyes, and our proprietary Antonia Red™-dye.

Our non-fluorescent derivatives include e.g. dextran sulfates and charged polysaccharides with functional groups like carboxymethyl (CM), diethylaminoethyl (DEAE), and quaternary-ammonium (Q). One of our most popular products is dextran sulfate sodium (DSS), which has been used to induce colitis in mice and rats for more than 20 years. Dextran sulfates of lower molecular weights are often used as a cell media additive or as stabilisers. Our blue dextran is often used as a void volume marker in chromatography. Our phenyl-dextran may be used in the preparation of hydrophobic gels and coatings.

We can provide Pharmaceutical grade purity on demand if you plan to use our products as starting or Raw materials for pharmaceutical formulations, medical devices, or related. We fulfill requirements from the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) for the production and quality for “Dextran for injection” that are in accordance with EDQM certification, including testing for microbial contamination and bacterial endotoxins, and more. Let us know prior to your order if you need PharmaGrade purity.

Fluorescent derivatives

Our standard product portfolio consists of 21 groups of fluorescent polysaccharide derivatives of various molecular sizes. We offer dextran – and other polysaccharide derivatives labelled with FITC, TRITC, ATTO™-dyes and our proprietary Antonia Red™.

Dextran Sulfates

TdB Labs supply two different series of dextran sulfates with either high- or low degree of sulfate substitution. Our high substituted dextran sulfates contain 16-19% sulfate. Our low substituted dextran sulfates have a sulfur content of 8-13%. The mean molecular weight of or dextran sulfates ranges from 5 kDa to 2000 kDa.

Dextran sulfate Pharma grade

Our Pharma grade products are suitable for those who aim to use our products as Raw Materials for pharmaceutical formulations, medical devices, cosmetics, or related.

Pharma grade products are tested for microbial contamination, bacterial endotoxins, and residual solvents according to European Pharmacopoeia. All quality control results are reported in a certificate of analysis, which is unique for each batch. An integral part of the certificate is also an assessment of possible Elemental impurities according to ICH Q3D.

Dextran sulfate sodium for colitis (DSS)

Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) is the goldened standard for inducing colitis in experimental animals. DSS is a dextran sulfate with a mean molecular with of 40 kDa and a sulfur content of 17-19 %. About 40 years ago, TdB Labs was involved in the work that led to the development of colitis grade DSS.

Blue dextrans

Blue dextran from TdB Labs are labelled with Cibacron blue F3GA. We produce blue dextran with a mean molecular weight ranging from 5 kDa to 2000 kDa.

Other derivatives & polysaccharides

Our non-fluorescent derivatives include dextran and polysucrose functionalized with groups like carboxymethyl (CM), diethylaminoethyl (DEAE), lysine and phenyl.

Dyes

NEW PRODUCTS!

TdB Labs are now launching a new set of stand-alone dyes; FITC (Fluorescein isothiocyanate) and Cibacron Blue 3G-A.

FITC (isomer I) is a fluorescent dye with wide applications. This includes conjugation to polysaccharides proteins and other molecules.

Cibacron Blue 3G-A is an anthraquinone dye often use din affinity chromatography.

Fluorescent polysaccharides

Our products are widely employed within the life science sector. Our fluorescent derivatives are mainly used to study permeability and microcirculation in cells and tissues, for studies of drug delivery or as molecular size markers. Our fluorescent products include derivatives labelled with FITC, TRITC, ATTO™-dyes and our proprietary Antonia Red™-dye.

Non-fluorescent polysaccharides

TdB Labs’ non-fluorescent derivatives include e.g. dextran sulfates and charged polysaccharides like CM- and DEAE-dextran. One of our most popular predicts is dextran sulfate sodium (DSS), which has been used to induce colitis in mice and rats for more than 20 years. Dextran sulfates of lower molecular weights are often used as a cell media additive or as stabilisers.

Polysaccharides | Functions

Purity

All our standard products are of technical grade. For some applications, e.g. for use in medical devices, products of higher purity might be required. Please contact us (link) if you are interested in high-purity products. You can read more about our customized products here.

Quality

All products from TdB Labs are of premium quality. Our polysaccharide derivatives have a high purity and a low polydispersity (PD), meaning that the ratio of M w /M n is close to 1. This is especially important for permeability studies; a low PD gives much more reliable and reproducible results.
