ATTO488™-dextran

ATTO488™ -dextran

ATTO488-dextran is manufactured by reacting a selected dextran fraction with an ATTO488 derivative. The fluorophore ATTO488 displays strong absorption, high quantum yield and photo-stability. After purification from non-bound dye, the products are controlled for molecular weight, solubility, degree of substitution, free dye and loss on drying. TdB Labs produce ATTO488-dextran with a molecular weight of 4 kDa.

Structure
ATTO488-dextran is synthesised from well-characterised dextran fractions derived from Leuconostoc mesenteroides via the succinimidyl-derivative of ATTO488. The degree of substitution of ATTO488 is between 0.001-0.008.

Spectral data
ATTO488-dextran has an absorbance maximum at 502nm (in borate buffer, pH 9.0) and an emission wavelength of 524 nm.

Storage and stability
ATTO488-dextran is stable for more than 6 years when stored dry in well-sealed containers at ambient temperature.

Solubility
ATTO488-dextran dissolves readily in water.

Application
Fluorescent-dextrans are mainly used for studying permeability and microcirculation. Due to the high absorption, high quantum yield and photo-stability, products labeled with ATTO488 can also be used for single-molecule detection, flow cytometry (FACS), fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) and more.
